Andorra is known for its mountains and snow, although it’s possible to enjoy it all year round. There are many activities to enjoy in Andorra, both in summer and winter. We recommend visiting Andorra for at least two or three days, although a week in Andorra would be ideal for you to fully appreciate this beautiful place.

Christmas is usually a bustling time in Andorra, with many tourists taking advantage of these days to enjoy the snow and its unique atmosphere.

Skiing in Andorra

Indeed, Andorra is one of the best places for skiing, suitable for both beginners and professionals. The ski resorts in Andorra offer services suitable for the whole family. It’s a true paradise for skiing!

The season usually starts in December and ends in mid-April (depending on the weather conditions each year).

Andorra has two major ski resorts. The first one is Grandvalira, which has 7 sectors, all interconnected and equipped with a ski school with more than 400 instructors. The second ski resort, Vallnord, is divided into two sectors and has about 45 slopes.

There are many things to see in the capital of Andorra la Vella. Despite being a small city, it is charming and full of history.

If you want to go shopping, don’t miss one of the most famous streets in all of Andorra, Avenida Meritxell, known for its luxury shops.

Something you shouldn’t miss is the Casa de Vall, it’s the former seat of the parliament of Andorra, a house with a lot of historical significance. They offer guided tours that last around 30 minutes.

Another spectacular visit is to the Church of Sant Esteve. Despite being from the Romanesque period, it has been modified and restored several times, with the most significant change occurring in the 20th century.

Slip down the Tobotronc

The Tobotronc is an activity within NATURLANDIA, located in the Rabassa area. It is a park that offers several very fun activities. One of them is the Tobotronc, one of the longest nature slides in the world. The ride is about 5 km long, where you travel around the forest sitting on a sled.

It’s a very fun experience. However, children under 1.20 meters in height are not allowed to ride the toboggan for safety reasons.

It’s ideal for both adults and the whole family, with exclusive areas for everyone. There’s an area for adults only, where entry is from 16 years old and above. You can relax and enjoy without any distractions.

For children between 3 and 8 years old, there is an area with qualified monitors and supervised activities. They will have a great time!

Looking for adrenaline? If so, Ice Karting is perfect for you. It takes place at the Palau de Gel in Canillo, Andorra, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

It’s a very safe activity and a great option for having a good time. The activity lasts about 10 minutes. The entry is for people over 16 years old and we recommend booking in advance, as spaces are limited.

Canillo’s ice palace offers other very fun activities suitable for the whole family such as ice skating and swimming pool.

The cuisine of Andorra

Andorran dishes are typical of mountain cuisine, known for their intense, hearty, and delicious flavors. Its cuisine is seasonal as it depends on hunting and fishing.

One of the most typical dishes is the “Trinxat de montaña,” a winter dish characterized by cabbage, potatoes, and bacon. Another very typical dish is “Escudella,” a traditional stew.

You will find a large number of restaurants where you will have the opportunity to try these delicious dishes.

Buggy Oruga

You can rent buggies with caterpillar tracks and enjoy a guided off-road trip through the snow. It’s a truly unique experience, as the landscapes are stunning.

There are buggies with two or four seats, and up to five buggies can go out together. The tour lasts about an hour.

This activity is only available from December to April, so we recommend dressing warmly.
