The legendary wooden train of Sóller will take us through the unique landscapes offered by the Alfabia Mountains in the Tramuntana Range and the Sóller Valley; the scent of orange trees, olive trees, nature, and the sea combined with tunnels, rugged mountains, lush forests, and magnificent panoramas provide us with an unforgettable experience.
Once we arrive in the village of Sóller, the commercial and cultural center of the Sierra, we will be welcomed by the main square, where we will have free time to sit on a terrace and observe the Church of Saint Bartholomew and the Banco de Sóller building. Both constructions are modernist works by architect Joan Rubió, a disciple of Gaudí.
Known as the cradle of modernism, Sóller holds an extensive history among its streets and buildings. The old houses and colonial-style mansions tell us how, in the 19th and 20th centuries, Mallorcan merchants made fortunes trading oranges in France and how King Alfonso XIII proclaimed Sóller as a city and the commercial and cultural center of the area.
The railway journey was inaugurated at the beginning of the 20th century because the village of Sóller, with its thriving industry and famous orange groves, needed to end the isolation that hindered its development.
After exploring the main square of the village, we will take a tram (also wooden) to the Port of Sóller, a natural port surrounded by mountains that offers all kinds of activities and places of interest, as well as wonderful views. The Port of Sóller has a rich maritime history due to its perfect location in the Tramuntana Range, which made it a commercial center of the area and a coveted treasure for ancient pirates and smugglers.
Imagine a unique journey, crossing mountains that tell stories, culture, and traditions, in a century-old wooden train that retains all its essence and original aesthetics. Undoubtedly, an unforgettable experience on rails.
