Eco-touristic Visit to a Banana Plantation in La Orotava

Description of the experience

We will meet at the organic Canary Island banana farm. We are in the north of Tenerife and the views of the Teide from here are incredible!

We will start the visit talking about the origins of the farm as we start walking around its grounds. While contemplating the banana trees we will tell you about all the steps that are followed in the banana production process, from its gestation to its commercialization.

We will explain the peculiarities of the Canary Island banana, the only variety of this fruit that has achieved the Protected Geographical Indication seal. Did you know that this product takes three months longer to ripen than American bananas? Hence its intense flavor and its greater contribution of nutrients and vitamins.

In addition, since we are in an organic farm, we will tell you about the ecosystem created in these lands. Insects that help fight pests, cereals that keep the soil young, birds that provide fertilizer? Everything plays a crucial role!

After the walk, we will enjoy a tasting of bananas from the Canary Islands and an exquisite shot made also with this fruit.
