The prehistoric site of Torre d'en Galmés is one of the largest and best preserved Talayotic settlements in Menorca and all the Balearic Islands.
Travel back in time and discover one of the most impressive civilizations of the prehistoric Mediterranean. This prehistoric settlement is located in a strategic place on top of a hill from which you can see much of the south coast of Menorca.
In the interior of Torre d'en Galmés several stages of occupation can be perceived, from 1,400 B.C., through the Roman and Andalusian periods, until the Aragonese conquest of the island in the 12th century. Due to its enormous extension (62,000 m²) during the phase of greatest splendor, up to 400 people may have lived in the settlement, and it is possible that it was one of the centers of power in Talayotic Menorca.
During the visit our guides will show you the monumentality of the site, the different buildings and dwellings excavated and also its caves, the complex water collection system, and, of course, the impressive taula enclosure. You will also discover the material records found belonging to the Roman and Muslim periods.
In just two hours you will be able to learn in depth about the people who inhabited Menorca during its most remote past and we will explain the latest developments in research on the Talayotic world.
