The Royal Cartuja of Valldemossa, converted into a historical reference of the island, was built in the early fourteenth century by King James II for his son Sancho. During this period, it was the place of residence of the monks until it finally became private property, housing renowned artists and writers such as: Rubén Darío, Azorín, Miguel de Unamuno, the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin and the writer George Sand, who wrote his famous book "A Winter in Mallorca".
The truth is that Valldemossa, due to its location in the Sierra de Tramuntana, offers unique settings at every time of the year.
