The tour begins in the Plaza de Pontejos, where the purpose of the route will be presented and we will talk about the first female subject of the visit, hidden in the coat of arms of the city.
We will then go to the Plaza de Santa Ana and cross the Barrio de las Letras, among whose narrow streets we will discover some of the most relevant and forgotten intellectuals of the seventeenth to twentieth centuries.
After a stop in front of the Congress of Deputies (where we will talk about the conquest of women's suffrage and the person who sowed the seed for its achievement), we will move on to the Prado Museum to explain the presence of women in one of the most important art galleries in the world.
We will end in front of the Monument to the Fallen for Spain, in the Plaza de la Lealtad, to talk about some of the forgotten heroines of the people of Madrid and the myths that have tried to hide them for centuries.
What was the Querella de las Mujeres? Who were the Sin Sombrero? What great woman was always in the shadow of the great Lope de Vega? Do you know who was the first person to demand women's suffrage in Spain? What literary role did women play in the Madrid of the Golden Age? What was really behind romantic myths of the 19th century such as Carmen, la Cigarrera?
With this tour you will discover the answer to these and other questions, but also the reason why you didn't know it before.

A small village nestled in the Sierra de Guadarrama was chosen in the mid-sixteenth century to house the Monastery of El Escorial, the greatest architectural legacy of Philip II. However, this building is only the best known attraction of what is possibly one of the most beautiful and interesting towns in Madrid: San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the dream paved with stories on which the powerful monarch erected his great refuge.
