This Segway Tour is a perfect experience for those who want to try the Segway and get some practice before taking a longer tour to other parts of the city.
We will visit the Parc de la Ciutadella which owes its name to the military citadel that was once located there, built in the early 18th century and was the largest fortress in Europe at the time.
Among the main attractions of the park are the Barcelona Zoo, former home of the famous albino gorilla Snowflake, and the Cascada, a large and impressive fountain designed by architect Josep Fontsére, with some minor contributions from the young Antoni Gaudí, who later designed the Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló and Casa Milà.
The citadel was built and demolished several times throughout history, although it was finally demolished at the end of the 19th century. However, there are three architectural remains of the citadel that still exist today: the arsenal, which is now the Parliament of Catalonia, the Church and the Governor's Palace.
The Parc de la Ciutadella also houses the Museum of Natural Sciences and the Museum of Zoology of Barcelona, both pavilions of the Universal Exposition of 1888.
We will visit all these places during this brief tour of the Parc de la Ciutadella where your guide will tell you facts and stories.
